Caribbean Clown Socks

I made this pair of socks for my sister's big but cold feet. Hopefully the colors will make her think more of warmth and sunshine than clowns... As I was digging through the strata of the socks yarn stash to make these socks, I realized that the colors that draw me go through seasonal cycles. I bought these during another cold winter during the period of short, dark days where nothing but the brightest of yarns please me most.

Yarn: Regia Crazy Color 6-ply in color 5260
Pattern: 56 stitch 56 row sock by Nancy T. McGlynn
Needles: US 3 / 3.25 mm & US 2 / 2.75 mm (for toes and heels)

I haven't knit many pairs of socks in a dk-weight, so I hopped on Ravelry to find a pattern, which called for 3-50g skeins, exactly what I had! By weight the finished socks took just barely over 2 skeins, but don't let that fool you. I had to use a fair bit of a third to make the colors match. Here is how far 2 balls took me: only about halfway through the foot.

But I have to say that knitting socks with the thicker yarn really flew by!
