My Cenotes

I have finished another pair of socks. These ones are special because I designed them myself. I call them Cenotes Socks, named after the wonderful little freshwater lakes found on the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. Their waters are as blue as these socks.

Cenotes Socks

Pattern: Cenotes Socks by me.
Yarn: Summit Sock by Impulse of Delight
Color: Blueberry Skies
Content: 80% Merino wool/20% Nylon
Needles: Addi Turbo Circular size 2.
Size: Ladies Medium (size 8.5 shoe)
Cast on: October 16, 2010
Bound off: February 10, 2011

Comments:  I absolutely love these socks. I love the yarn, it's wonderful to work with. I love the color because it's so soothing to my winter weary eyes, and I love the stitch pattern. It's easy to memorize and looks great with a variegated yarn.

Even better? I've written up the pattern and posted it for free. You'll need to go to my pattern blog for the info on how to get it.   Beadknitter Patterns

Catchin' Up

Wow! Am I the only one left doing this Socks from Stash thing? That's so sad. And I haven't been doing it all that well. I'm not knitting a pair of socks a month. My knitting time is not what it was last year, or the year before. But I am still continuously knitting socks. They're just taking longer to get done.

Since my last post I've finished 2 pair.

Citrus Yellow Bayerische Socks

Hello Hello? Anyone out there? Wow, we've been quiet here lately.

I haven't posted for months buts that's because I haven't finished a pair of socks since, well, months ago. Anyway, I finished a pair today using yarn from my stash that I got about 3 years or so ago. I started the socks a year ago, frogged them, started again, frogged them. It all finally started going right in July when I cast on again. I think the fact my daughter got married in June and I had wedding stuff to work on put a serious cramp in my sock knitting mojo. Anyway, I'm glad they're finally done. I'm gonna have the brightest feet the west side of the Mississippi. LOL!

Pattern: Bayerische by Eunny Jang
Yarn: Fearless Fibers Superwash Merino Wool Sock Yarn
Color: Citrus
Needles: Addi Turbo Circular size 1.
Size: Ladies Medium (9 to 10 inch foot)
Cast on: July 23, 2009
Bound off: November 19, 2009

More info on my blog.

Have a great day.

3rd Pair for July

Never have I ever finished 3 pair of socks in one month before, until now! I must have some hot sock mojo going on this summer.

Pattern: Charade by Sandra Park

Yarn: Fearless Fibers Superwash Merino Wool Sock Yarn

Colorway: Midnight Passion

Needles: Size 2 Addi Lace Circular.

Cast On: July 11, 2008
Completed: July 27, 2008
Comments: I love this pattern. I love the yarn. I love the socks.

Close Up of the stitch pattern.

Here is the next sock yarn from my stash that I'm going to use.

It's Cheeky Monkey Fibers Sock Yarn in the Water Nymph colorway, which is a pastel lime green, violet, and white in a 75% superwash merino wool/25% nylon blend. It is one of the softest sock yarns I've felt in a long time. I bought it some time last summer. In keeping with the hot sock mojo, I have already cast on and started the next pair of socks.

This will be my first pair of toe up socks. So far so good. I tried the Turkish cast on, and it went well.

Have a great day.

Petticoat 1295

I finally have finished my Opal Petticoat socks.

Pattern: My own.

Opal Petticoat in #1295 colorway.

Needles:
Size 2 Addi Turbo Lace Circular.

Cast On:
June 12, 2008

Completed:
July 18, 2008

Comments:
I made this pattern up myself. I really like the way garter rib patterns look with self striping yarn. I am writing this pattern up to post on my blog (for free) so check in once in awhile to see if it's up. I hope to have it up in about a week. (Maybe sooner.)

Here's a close up of the stitch pattern.

Have a great day.

April Socks - Nutkin

Finished my Nutkins last night and kitchenered the toe this morning. This was my first time using KPPPM and I liked the colors and the feel of the yarn so there should be some add'l purchases in the future. I did experience biasing the same as alot of other people but this didn't bother me enough to mirror the pattern. Some did mirror the pattern but experienced a downfall of stretch.
Although this is my fourth pair of completed socks (including a baby pair of Nutkin) for the month of April, this is the pair that counts for the Sock KAL for April.

Pattern : Nutkin
Needles : Knitpicks Circulars size 2
Yarn : Koigu KPPPM Color lot P118
Mods : Did k2,p2 ribbing instead of turned cuff. Wrapped short row toe

Finished these Helter Skelter tube socks - pattern from Simply Knitting magazine, knitted in James Brett pink Marble.

Hope to knit another pair of these in burgundy this month too.

~ March Socks ~

I've finished the emergency socks and they will count as my march socks too. ;D I began these 2wks ago and finished the 1st sock in about day and half but it took over a week to make the 2nd. I'm now burned out and don't have a desire to make anything. I'm hoping after a road trip this coming weekend I'll feel better ~ need a little vacation. ;D Without futher ado ~ here are my march socks:

Currently half way through a pair of Helter Skelter socks from a pattern in Simply Knitting magazine, using James Brett Marble yarn. Hope to have these finished over the weekend too.

Now I just need to decide on March's socks ...

Second pair for January

After finishing my Firestarters I didn't have any socks on my needles. So when my colleague told that her daughter has taken Log cabin socks I knitted to her, I decided to knit new pair of socks for her. I had some pink Novita Seitsemän Veljestä (most popular worsted sock yarn in Finland, sold in almost every supermarket) in my stash and I wanted to get rid of it. Pattern is Brigid, which was quite quick to knit with 2.5 mm dpns. Now I'm waiting for my first Rockin' Sock Club packet so I'm not going to cast any socks until I got it.

Firestarters finished

yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd sock (72 grams)
colour: Baltic Sea
needles: 1.75 mm and 2.25 mm circulars
modifications: three extra pattern repeats in feet (which made them too big for myself)

I started them 2nd January and finally finished the last one yesterday. I liked the pattern a lot so might knit another pair someday. These socks were third pair I finished this year and if I knit quickly I might finish another pair from my stash in this month. I have decided to knit SixSox-pattern on February and I pick yarn from my stash. I'm not going to choose yarn until I have seen the pattern but I'm sure I have enough yarn to knit socks from my stash.

Hi Everyone! It's nice to join you!

Hi! My name is Jennifer (jsins by blog and Ravelry) and I am new to the group. I have finished one pair of socks from my stash so far this year. A pair of Dublin Bay Socks by Mossy Cottage in Yarn Love's Joan of Arc in the Fling colorway. This was my first Eye of Partridge heel and I love the way it turned out. These were knit 2 at a time using Magic Loop on size 1 addi lace needles.
I have cast on with another stash yarn, Kraemer Silk and Sterling in white to knit the Evening Socks for a Young Lady from Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush. I am knitting the modified version so that they are regular socks instead of knee socks.

I am looking forward to knitting along with the club this year. My sock yarn stash is stocked with alot of gems that get lost in the shuffle when I spy a new yarn that I just have to have. My goal for 2008 is to not buy any more sock yarn and to only knit socks from stash as part of the club.
