Oh yeah, I finished these.

I finished these at the beginning of December. Just forgot to post about them here. We've been pretty stressed out at my house of late.

Opal 1292 Socks

Pattern: My basic top-down 2-circular needle sock pattern with the following stitch pattern for the leg and instep:

Rnd 1: K2, P2.
Rnd 2: Knit.

Yarn: Opal Petticoat sock yarn, 2/24 acrylic for reinforcement thread.

Color: #1292. Reinforcement thread is pastel mint green.

Needles: Size 2 Addi Turbo Lace Circular.

Cast On: November 12, 2008
Completed: December 1, 2008

Comments: I can't seem to get enough of garter rib patterns. They look so good with the self striping yarns. I made these socks just a little wider and longer to accommodate my slightly larger left limb and they fit really good.

The Next Sock Project

I have decided what I'm doing for the next pair of socks. I've dug out my skein of Opal Petticoat in color 1292.

It's pastel shades of pink, blue, white, and teal, with dark bits of teal. Very feminine. I'm doing a simple garter rib stitch pattern. It's the holiday season. I need to be doing something easy and brainless with these socks.

Petticoat 1295

I finally have finished my Opal Petticoat socks.

Pattern: My own.

Yarn:
Opal Petticoat in #1295 colorway.

Needles:
Size 2 Addi Turbo Lace Circular.

Cast On:
June 12, 2008

Completed:
July 18, 2008

Comments:
I made this pattern up myself. I really like the way garter rib patterns look with self striping yarn. I am writing this pattern up to post on my blog (for free) so check in once in awhile to see if it's up. I hope to have it up in about a week. (Maybe sooner.)

Here's a close up of the stitch pattern.

Have a great day.

The Next Socks

Hi folks!
I have started my next sock project. I dug in the stash and found a skein of Opal Petticoat. I've had this one for a couple years. Time for it to be socks.

I'm doing a simple sock pattern. Something 'brainless' so I can work on it without thinking. I've settled on a 4 by 2 garter rib. I took this with me for WWKIP day yesterday. I've got more done than this on it, but this is where I was when I took the photo. I love how it's working up.

Take care,

February socks revisted

My sock knitting has taken a change of direction recently. Remember my recent announcement regarding my February socks? I adore the yarn, achieved 8 spi with it on 2.25mm needles & am VERY happy with the fabric but unfortunately am not all happy with the pattern I chose. Can anybody see why?

Here's a closer view:

Could you put up with that biasing on the leg & foot? I decided that it would bug me forever so now that pics have been taken am going to insert a life line just above the toe increases & rip it back before experimenting with a new pattern.

However DH wasn't available to take photos before I ripped them out so I dug out the Opal Rainforest 6 ply that DH gave me for Christmas & commenced the massive wind off of yarn to achieve the necessaries for my two at once socks. This time I'm going Cuff Down as I'm loosely teaching The Yarn Yard & others to knit socks two at a time on the Crafty Threads 'n' Yarns Forum but next it'll be toe up!

Waterfall Ribs
K1tbl, P1 rib

After reading a thread of Ravelry I tinked back the 5 rounds of K1, P1 rib I'd done & did it again using 'K1tbl, P1' rib which I much prefer. I think it makes the rib 'pop out'.

For this pair I'm using Waterfall Rib also from Sensational Knitted Socks & here they after one repeat of the pattern:

This pair will be my almost constant companion next week as I'm off work! DD is away on a skiing trip with school & DH & I are making the most of it & having a short holiday.

Broad Spiral Ribbing Socks

The Owl socks for my MIL's 60th birthday are finished:

Pattern: Broad Spiral Ribbing from More Sensational Knitted Socks
Yarn: Opal Rainforest 6 ply in Owl.
Needles: 2 x 2.75mm 60 cm circulars.
Method: Knitted cuff down two at a time.
Details: 8 stitches per inch for a 9" wide foot so I cast on 72 stitches. An 'Eye of Partridge Heel' for a very durable heel as they were a present for my MIL who is a keen walker.

More photos on my blog.

Owl Progression

The Broad Spiral Ribbing socks for my MIL are progressing well:

I separated them for the Eye of Partridge heels & gusset decreases & they're now reunited on the needles.

We're taking her out for a meal on Saturday night so I'm aiming to have them finished by Friday to get them washed etc & given to her at the restaurant. However if I don't get them finished her birthday is the following Thursday & they'll definitely be done by then.

Owl progression

The owl socks are progressing & this morning looked like this:

socks two at once

The pattern is simple but looks quite effective:

I searched for a pattern that wouldn't clash with the stripes & think I've found it.
