Oops, I did it again

I have been knitting my SixSox and after turning heels I noticed that these socks are little bit too big for myself. I had same problem on January too so on March I'm going to knit socks cuff-down not toe-up. People say often that is easier to knit fitting socks toe-up but somehow my socks are too long if I start them from toes.

I like the yarn and pattern but unfortunately these socks are too long for my feet, still I'm going to finish them.

February's project started

I decided earlier that I'm going to knit SixSox-pattern and yesterday morning pattern was released. And pattern is awesome! It was quite difficult to choose yarn for this project. I had three yarns to choose from and after some thinking I chose Reynold's Soft Sea Wool. I've got this yarn from my Knitter's Tea Swap 3 pair and I have been thinking about perfect project for this yarn. Yarn is pure merino wool (I'm little bit skeptic about durability) with quite much twist. I knit it with 2 mm needles.

I casted these socks about four hours ago (and haven't knitted all the time) and my socks look like this. I really love the pattern it is based on Cat Bordhi's Upstream sock architecture.

Now I have to go to the supermarket to buy some food for weekend, after that I just enjoy knitting my new socks. I hope that these socks are going to fit my own feet.

Have a nice weekend!

Second pair for January

After finishing my Firestarters I didn't have any socks on my needles. So when my colleague told that her daughter has taken Log cabin socks I knitted to her, I decided to knit new pair of socks for her. I had some pink Novita Seitsemän Veljestä (most popular worsted sock yarn in Finland, sold in almost every supermarket) in my stash and I wanted to get rid of it. Pattern is Brigid, which was quite quick to knit with 2.5 mm dpns. Now I'm waiting for my first Rockin' Sock Club packet so I'm not going to cast any socks until I got it.

Firestarters finished

yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd sock (72 grams)
colour: Baltic Sea
needles: 1.75 mm and 2.25 mm circulars
modifications: three extra pattern repeats in feet (which made them too big for myself)

I started them 2nd January and finally finished the last one yesterday. I liked the pattern a lot so might knit another pair someday. These socks were third pair I finished this year and if I knit quickly I might finish another pair from my stash in this month. I have decided to knit SixSox-pattern on February and I pick yarn from my stash. I'm not going to choose yarn until I have seen the pattern but I'm sure I have enough yarn to knit socks from my stash.

Progressing slowly

Here it is, my first Firestarter. I frogged it yesterday and started again. My gauge is different than in pattern so I'm doing some extra pattern repeats before gussets. Yarn is beautiful and I like to knit it. I hope to reach gussets tomorrow, if I don't need to frog again.

My skeins are from different dye lots so I'm knitting sock from both of them changing yarn after every row. It makes knitting slower but I there is still enough time to knit these socks in January.

Decision made

Year 2007 is coming to the end (less than 4 hours left) so it is time to reveal my plans for January. I graduated on March 2007 and I wanted buy something for myself to celebrate it. What might sock maniac buy? Some sock yarn of course. I bought my first Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock skeins couple months earlier and I really liked it.

I bought eight skeins of Shepherd Sock to myself and I have only knitted three of them so it's time knit some more. I chose colourway Baltic Sea because I live on the coast of it and I'm worried about it. (Baltic Sea is the blueish yarn in right, yes I also bought some Wollmeise then too).

Deciding pattern was much more difficult than choosing the yarn but today I finally did it. I'm going to knit Firestarters with my Baltic Sea and HiyaHiya (1.75 mm) circulars. I hope I have time to cast on them on Wednesday.

Happy New Year to all of You!

Introducing myself and my stash

Hello, my name is Hanna and I might have too much sock yarn. When I decided to join this club I was worried that I don't have enough yarn to knit 12 pairs of socks. Today I made an inventory to my stash and now I know that I can do at least 20 pairs of socks without buying more yarn. Now I just have to decide what yarn to use first.
