~ February Socks ~

They are finally done and I'm so glad. It felt as if they took so very long to make but I don't believe they really did, I'm just tired and been up late for several nights.

Here they are:

February Socks

Finished these Opal yarn socks for my husband a few days ago. My first time using Opal and I loved it.
He loves the socks!

Currently half way through a pair of Helter Skelter socks from a pattern in Simply Knitting magazine, using James Brett Marble yarn. Hope to have these finished over the weekend too.

Now I just need to decide on March's socks ...

Evening Stockings completed in February

Hi Everyone!

My February socks are finished!!! I knit a modified version of the Evening Stockings for a Young Lady from Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush. I modified the pattern to knit regular socks by casting on 60 stitches, shortening the ribbing on top and knitting 9 lace pattern repeats before doing the heel flaps. I switched the heel flap to a slipped stitch flap to strengthen it a bit from the ribbed heel flap called for in the pattern. These socks were knit with Kraemer Sterling from my stash.

I stuck my hand into my sock yarn bin and pulled out Miss Babs Superwash Sock in the Grasshopper colorway, which I purchased quite a while ago from Woolgirl.com. I've decided to use this yarn to knit the Embossed Leaves Socks from Interweave Knits.

I'm still holding strong and have not bought any new sock yarns this year! I know that we are only in the second month of the year but it feels like forever since I bought any new yarns.

Happy Knitting!

Two Pair for Feb

I have been working on two pair for February. I need to have a kitchener party to finish the afterthought heels but other than that two pair will be complete.

First pair of socks is made with Regia in the Jaywalker Pattern, second is a pair made with Knitpicks Essentials in ash and some misc multicolored sock stash.
Blogger is being really irritable today so I will need to edit this post....

Oops, I did it again

I have been knitting my SixSox and after turning heels I noticed that these socks are little bit too big for myself. I had same problem on January too so on March I'm going to knit socks cuff-down not toe-up. People say often that is easier to knit fitting socks toe-up but somehow my socks are too long if I start them from toes.

I like the yarn and pattern but unfortunately these socks are too long for my feet, still I'm going to finish them.

My Feb Plans

Hello everyone ~ the socks are lovely and I'm encouraged to get going on my own. I've started my plans with a pair for an exchange. I selected the following yarn from my stash and I hope the receipent likes it. I'm enjoying the feel of the yarn very much ~ its stretchy and smooth. The pattern is working up nicely too which makes it a joy to knit. I am hoping to make 2 pr of socks this month though I've not picked a pattern for the second pair yet. I'll update when I do. Have a great week!

Chosen yarn ~ Lang Jawoll Cotton Jacquard in blues/greys/browns

I'm using Nancy Bush's Madder Ribbed Sock pattern from Knitting Vintage Socks. Here is a WIP pic:

Sockknitting = Rocket Science!

The colors for my February socks look summery, in contrast to our snowy MN weather.
However, I've knit and unknit this toe way too many times today. It'll work soon -- just have to let off some steam here.
I'm using Knitty's Universal toe-up sock formula.

Holistic Knitter's February Socks

I've cast on a pair of socks for my husband using 2.5mm dpns & a ball of Opal sock yarn from my stash. I'm using a basic sock pattern from Simply Knitting magazine, and hope to have them finished by Valentines Day for him.

My third finished pair meant for January - Citrine Socklets - were finished late yesterday.

Photo tomorrow when I'm on my main computer.

February's project started

I decided earlier that I'm going to knit SixSox-pattern and yesterday morning pattern was released. And pattern is awesome! It was quite difficult to choose yarn for this project. I had three yarns to choose from and after some thinking I chose Reynold's Soft Sea Wool. I've got this yarn from my Knitter's Tea Swap 3 pair and I have been thinking about perfect project for this yarn. Yarn is pure merino wool (I'm little bit skeptic about durability) with quite much twist. I knit it with 2 mm needles.

I casted these socks about four hours ago (and haven't knitted all the time) and my socks look like this. I really love the pattern it is based on Cat Bordhi's Upstream sock architecture.

Now I have to go to the supermarket to buy some food for weekend, after that I just enjoy knitting my new socks. I hope that these socks are going to fit my own feet.

Have a nice weekend!
