Somthing from the Stash for September

At the beginning of the month I had decided to knit a pair of complicated cabled socks with a gorgeous semi solid yellow yarn. However, I had to change my plans and do something much easier, because I was going in for surgery to repair a hernia. The surgery went fine, but a couple days later I developed extremely painful complications. I've been flat on my back, in bed, on some heavy duty medications ever since. My brain feels like it's coated in a purple haze. Somehow, though, I have managed to finish the socks. That is something.

Opal Petticoat 1296 Socks

Pattern: I winged it. Basically my standard top-down 2-circular needle sock pattern with the following stitch pattern for the leg:

Rnd 1: K3, slip 1
Rnd 2: Knit.

Yarn: Opal Petticoat in color #1296

Needles: Size 2 Addi Turbo Lace Circular.

Cast On: September 6, 2008
Completed: September 28, 2008


I don't know what I'm going to knit from the stash next. I am seriously thinking I might just take a break from knitting socks until the meds are out of the system and I'm thinking clearly again.

Sock catch up

The last socks I posted were back in July. I have been keeping up with my stash socks. But apparently lagging in posting about them. So here goes. a catch up post.

August Socks (aka: Amie's Bday Socks 2008)

Pattern: "Hedera by Cookie A."
Yarn: KnitPicks Imagination in looking glass
needles: 2.0mm (us 0)
Started: Aug 11
Finished: Aug 25
I used 1.04skeins of yarn. Yep I ran out and had to go and beg another Ravelry user for more, since this yarn was unavailable at the time. I loved the yarn and will order more. Its so soft. and OMG warm.

Sept Stash Socks

Pattern: basic k2p1 ribbing with a traditional flap gusset heel and wedge toe
Yarn: KnitPicks Essentials in grass
needles: 2.0 mm (us 0)
Started: Sept 22
Finished: Sept 25
Running late into Sept and I still had no stash socks... Had been meaning to knit Nathan some socks for some time now. his last pair were 2 years ago. two birds with one stone. So these are kid socks. He wears a childs us size 9.

Finished Waving Lace

Am I the only one still knitting socks from stash??

They took such a toll on me, I'm taking next month off, going to do a "not socks" project.

Finished BareNakedLacy socks

Here are my finished socks for August: BareNakedLacy, knit with TOFUtsies. The first sock took 3 1/2 weeks to knit, the mate: 4 days!.






I have this much yarn leftover, probably 1/2 the skein, I don't have a scale to weigh it. Would anyone like it? The colors are black, gold and burgundy.

Water Nymphs

I call these my Water Nymph socks because that's the name of the color.

Redo of February Socks in August

My February socks were just tooooo big! I'm so glad I frogged them and made these, which fit just right and are fun to wear. The yarn is Regia Cotton Surf color; the pattern, Caryn Lantz's "Simple Socks for Ladies on Two Circular Needles." Yes, they're simple and comfy socks, made on size 1 circs. In fact, my next pair looks much like them, just a different color.
Congratulations to all you diligent knitters who have kept knitting!

I need your help!

Dear Fellow Sockists,

I would like to knit a pair of socks for my 9 year-old nephew for his birthday, but all I have is his shoe size (US kid 1 or 1-1/2, or European/French 32, rather narrow). Would any of you have either a kid handy to measure or a chart containing the following information: circumference at the ball of the foot, foot length from heel to toe, and toe length? In return, I promise my eternal gratitude!
