My Cenotes

I have finished another pair of socks. These ones are special because I designed them myself. I call them Cenotes Socks, named after the wonderful little freshwater lakes found on the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. Their waters are as blue as these socks.

Comments: I absolutely love these socks. I love the yarn, it's wonderful to work with. I love the color because it's so soothing to my winter weary eyes, and I love the stitch pattern. It's easy to memorize and looks great with a variegated yarn.

It was a Purple Summer

I made two pairs of socks during the summer, both of which I made for my friend Judy in return for her bead stash (I'm also obsessed with bead weaving with a needle). I entered them both in the North Idaho Fair and won blue ribbons.

She picked purple yarn for this pair.

Herringbone Rib for Judy

Comments: I love the stitch pattern in these socks. It is fun to knit. Be advised, though, that it is a yarn hogging stitch pattern. Make sure you have extra yarn, or don't knit the stitch pattern in the foot. In fact, even if you don't carry the stitch pattern into the foot, have extra yarn. The Berroco Sox is nice to knit with. The second pair of socks for Judy are also purple. It's her favorite color.

Quick And Easy April Socks

April brought me many hours waiting in waiting rooms. Such is life sometimes. I needed to knit the hours away, but did not want a pattern that called for a lot of concentration. The yarn is Berocco Sox 1427, the pattern is Cat Bordhi's socks on circulars. A quick knit that helped me relax and get through some down time. The yarn is busy enough to keep me entertained.

Wow! Am I the only one left doing this Socks from Stash thing? That's so sad. And I haven't been doing it all that well. I'm not knitting a pair of socks a month. My knitting time is not what it was last year, or the year before. But I am still continuously knitting socks. They're just taking longer to get done.

Hello Hello? Anyone out there? Wow, we've been quiet here lately.

I haven't posted for months buts that's because I haven't finished a pair of socks since, well, months ago. Anyway, I finished a pair today using yarn from my stash that I got about 3 years or so ago. I started the socks a year ago, frogged them, started again, frogged them. It all finally started going right in July when I cast on again. I think the fact my daughter got married in June and I had wedding stuff to work on put a serious cramp in my sock knitting mojo. Anyway, I'm glad they're finally done. I'm gonna have the brightest feet the west side of the Mississippi. LOL!

I finished my socks just in the nick of time for the Cookie KAL this month. Oh the pressure!
I don't usually do stuff like that but the lure of winning sock yarn was just too much. (not that I need anymore)
Alas, I did not win, but I have another pair of socks.
Pattern: Sunshine by Cookie A.
Yarn: Lorna's Laces 2--50g balls of Sunshine (how appropriate)
Needles: 2.5mm dpns
I did do mods though. I cast on 72 sts and did K2P2 rib which flowed right into the pattern perfectly. I kept the pattern at 72 sts through the whole sock. Cookie's pattern has you cast on 60st, with a K2 P2 K1 P1 rib then increase to 80sts for the cable pattern.
Way too big for me. So keeping to the 72st worked fine, and decreasing at the toe to 32 across the final cable was perfect.
All in all a lovely pattern.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted much here, but I don't really knit as many socks anymore as I thought I would. But I did just finish these beauties from my stash:

This is of course the Jaywalker pattern in Serenity sock yarn, which I found at Joann's while shopping with my mom. It is wool, nylon, and bamboo, and is part of the Deborah Norville yarn collection. She also has sport weight, worsted, and chunky, but they all seem to be acrylic/nylon blends. The sock yarn is the only wool blend in the collection. I thought it was funny that she's got her own yarn line too! I didn't know she was into knitting and crochet a la Vanna White. Those of you who may know her name but be fuzzy on 'from where' can investigate more at her official website. She's a tv presenter/'journalist'.

Anyway, I wanted to make socks for my mom, but she lives in Florida, so wool socks are not really necessary or desirable. In fact, the only modification I made to the pattern was to make the cuff only 5" rather than 7" because shorter socks are better for that climate. I also have some cotton yarn in the stash, which I'll use later, but this Serenity stuff is super-light, and really soft. It splits, but I love how muted the colors are. Even in the darker colorways which you can see at the link above, are all really muted and soft.

Anyway, the socks fit her and she loved them. I definitely am joining the ranks of the thousands of people who love this pattern and I'm sure this won't be the last time I knit it, since I still have tons of self-striping sock yarn in the stash, and was getting burned out with just knitting plain stockinette socks.

I finished my Here We Go Steelers! Socks on December 27 just in time to have them ready to wear for the final regular season game and the playoffs.

Pattern: Judy's Magic Cast-on and Wendy's Generic Toe-Up Sock Pattern

Yarn: Claudia Handpaints, Colorway Steelers, 2 skeins

Needles: Size 2 32" Knitpicks fixed circulars to knit sock and Size 10.5 Knitpicks Options to bind-off.

Notes: Given that the Steelers have won the two games they've played since I knit these socks, I consider them to be a very successful knit.

I cast-on this Sunday morning for my January socks with some Noro Kureyon Sock that I had in my stash.

Now that the Christmas knitting season is over and done, I am getting back to the sock knitting. I have chosen the next victim from the stash. This is a skein of Fearless Fibers 100% Superwash Merino Wool in the Citrus colorway.

I'm making a pair of Bayerische socks. I've done so much easy knitting this past year. It's time to challenge myself a bit, and knit up to my skill level. This is how the first sock looks, so far.

3. Fastest fun sock - Vortical
4. Most surprising fit and simple pattern- Sideways socks from Drops/Garnstudio (in yarn Nickerjac) it really works.
5. and really fun lace is Clover socks and Seduction socks (and false cable).

Opal 1292 Socks

Pattern: My basic top-down 2-circular needle sock pattern with the following stitch pattern for the leg and instep:

Rnd 1: K2, P2.
Rnd 2: Knit.

Yarn: Opal Petticoat sock yarn, 2/24 acrylic for reinforcement thread.

Color: #1292. Reinforcement thread is pastel mint green.

Needles: Size 2 Addi Turbo Lace Circular.

Cast On: November 12, 2008
Completed: December 1, 2008

Comments: I can't seem to get enough of garter rib patterns. They look so good with the self striping yarns. I made these socks just a little wider and longer to accommodate my slightly larger left limb and they fit really good.

Christmas socks

I bet you thought I had given up on socks - it's been so long since I posted here!

The truth is I fell off the no-yarn-buying wagon and joined the Fyberspates self-striping sock club, and didn't dare pretend the new socks were "from stash"!

Since then I have been better-behaved, honest!

These are the Undulating Rib pattern from "Favorite Socks", in OnLine Supersocke Sport colour. Very stretchy, for my son's wide feet.

And these are for my daughter.

Colinette Jitterbug, in the new pattern Aethenoth - these are the first pair after the designer's own on Ravelry - woo hoo! As you can see, I had a nasty case of pooling on this one after a knot in the yarn turned out to be a join between two different dye-lots. Grrr.

Both of these are Christmas presents.

A third pair, for my husband, are halfway done. They are from stash yarn too, Austermann Step. He prefers long socks, so I had to buy two balls, but they are from different dye-lots so I have no right to expect an exact match. It's a Nancy Bush pattern, Highland Schottische, from Knitting Vintage Socks.

After the Jitterbug experience, I am quite scared of how differnt the second sock might look!

That's why I am knitting mittens at the moment! At least they are out of stash too....

The Next Sock Project

I have decided what I'm doing for the next pair of socks. I've dug out my skein of Opal Petticoat in color 1292.

It's pastel shades of pink, blue, white, and teal, with dark bits of teal. Very feminine. I'm doing a simple garter rib stitch pattern. It's the holiday season. I need to be doing something easy and brainless with these socks.

I have finished the first Xmas present. These will be for my daughters fiance, Frank, who I absolutely adore.

Comments: I really enjoyed knitting this stitch pattern. I also am quite pleased with how well the yarn I used for reinforcement thread worked. It is a 2/24 acrylic, used on knitting machines (I have tons of the stuff in my knitting room), in a deep green that blended so well you can't even tell I added it to the heels and toes-except they feel a little cushier.

Now I have to decide on what the next pair will be.

Deep Forest

In my last post I mentioned I'd had surgery, complications developed afterwards, and I was in bed recovering. I also said I was taking a break from knitting socks. Well, I am doing much better now, though the recovery has been a hard battle for me. I can walk again. That is the important thing. But I sure have developed a lot of empathy for folks who live in a wheelchair.

Because I'm feeling much better, my desire to knit has returned. And what will I knit? Socks of course! I decided to make a pair of socks for my daughters fiance, Frank (who I adore!), for Christmas. Over the past year I've knit him 2 pair of socks and my daughter says he wears them more than any of his other socks. He loves them. What's not to adore about a guy like that? (Besides, he treats my daughter like a queen!)

I've had this lovely skein of Fearless Fibers Superwash Merino Wool Sock Yarn in the colorway called Deep Forest languishing in the stash waiting for the perfect idea. Socks for Frank fill the bill.

It feels good to be knitting socks again.

Hello All! Long time no see...

Having finally replaced the camera-to-computer cable that my cat so unceremoniously chewed, I am trying to catch up with my posts.

For August, here are my "Plain Jane," using leftover Essential from Knitpicks. Tabi toe-up (of course), with gusset increases on top of the foot. This was inspired by/adapted from a pattern on Knitty.

And in September, a pair for my DMIL for the holidays made in Trekking Pro Natura. It uses a simple k3p1 ribbing + a leafy pattern inspired by Peapod Baby Set by Kate Gilbert.
I also finished my October pair, which will be a holiday gift for DFIL--that'll be for a future post.

June Socks in September

A long story on these socks! I got Melissa Morgan-Oakes' 2-at-a-time Socks and also Cat Bordhi's Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles, and I set out to learn . . . . Then thought I'd figured it out from Ravelry help but still got a jumbled mess. So after a long break, I knit these, using Caryn Lantz's "Simple Scks for Ladies on Two Circular Needles, and Regia Cotton Yarn Surf Color. I'm glad to have them as autumn moves in.
Finally I got some help and more self confidence with the 2-at-a-time technique -- hope to finish my next socks faster .

Somthing from the Stash for September

At the beginning of the month I had decided to knit a pair of complicated cabled socks with a gorgeous semi solid yellow yarn. However, I had to change my plans and do something much easier, because I was going in for surgery to repair a hernia. The surgery went fine, but a couple days later I developed extremely painful complications. I've been flat on my back, in bed, on some heavy duty medications ever since. My brain feels like it's coated in a purple haze. Somehow, though, I have managed to finish the socks. That is something.

My February socks were just tooooo big! I'm so glad I frogged them and made these, which fit just right and are fun to wear. The yarn is Regia Cotton Surf color; the pattern, Caryn Lantz's "Simple Socks for Ladies on Two Circular Needles." Yes, they're simple and comfy socks, made on size 1 circs. In fact, my next pair looks much like them, just a different color.

I need your help!

I would like to knit a pair of socks for my 9 year-old nephew for his birthday, but all I have is his shoe size (US kid 1 or 1-1/2, or European/French 32, rather narrow). Would any of you have either a kid handy to measure or a chart containing the following information: circumference at the ball of the foot, foot length from heel to toe, and toe length? In return, I promise my eternal gratitude!

June socks in August

My husband's June birthday stash socks are finished... in August!

But he has been chuckling ever since he tried them on, so I think I am forgiven.

Crosswalker pattern(Ravelry link), OnLine Supersocke sport stripe yarn, 2.25mm needles. An 80-stitch cast-on makes a good-fitting man sock which is, however, quite hard to pull on over the instep. I would add a few more stitches if I was to knit them again.

July socks? Too late now. But my August socks are looking good!

These socks were knit in the boingiest yarn I have ever used: Soxx Appeal. It is even boingier than Knitpicks' Risata. I hated knitting with it but love the result, as these nicely hug my feet and legs all the way to the knee. I used one ball per sock, toe-up, stitch from my trusted book, and a funny curly bind-off which I have had no success photographing.

Now, I have to confess (although I still can't feel bad about it): I bought more yarn, so soft, so warm, so gorgeous you would eat it. At least, I mixed it with the rest of the stash to remain true to the rule of this KAL. But, dudes, that required some serious willpower!

Summer Sockottas

Here is my contribution for July, plain vanilla sport socks made from Plymouth Sockotta, a wool/cotton/nylon blend. This is the first pair I have ever made using a cotton blend, and I really like the way they feel on my feet. I knit these top down on size 2.0mm Knit Picks fixed circulars. No stitch pattern here, just the yarn doing whatever it does. See you all next month!

Here is the next sock yarn from my stash that I'm going to use.

It's Cheeky Monkey Fibers Sock Yarn in the Water Nymph colorway, which is a pastel lime green, violet, and white in a 75% superwash merino wool/25% nylon blend. It is one of the softest sock yarns I've felt in a long time. I bought it some time last summer. In keeping with the hot sock mojo, I have already cast on and started the next pair of socks.

This will be my first pair of toe up socks. So far so good. I tried the Turkish cast on, and it went well.

I realize that I have been failing to post my updates. There has been sock knitting going on! I completed the Forget Me Not socks in June. I knit them using Panda Cotton in a Blueberry Grape colourway.
I dove into my stash and pulled out yarn that I had for several years. The Embossed Leaves sock are the result.

August brings us into Ravelympics and I will be knitting a scarf. I have started on the Summer of Love Socks, a STR holdout from last year. The yarn is lightweight STR in the Flower Power colorway.

At last, my May socks from stash for my teenaged son. He has very wide feet so I needed a stretchy pattern. This is Colonial Rib from Cider Moon's customer pattern section (free pdf). Size 2.25mm needles, Online Sport Color yarn from an ebay multi-pack.

There is no cuff section so they look a bit "raw-edged" for my taste. And I was too lazy to dig out sock one when I was casting on for sock two, so they don't match. Tsk! But they are bright stripey practical socks and they fit!

On with my June socks... before August!

Comments: I made this pattern up myself. I really like the way garter rib patterns look with self striping yarn. I am writing this pattern up to post on my blog (for free) so check in once in awhile to see if it's up. I hope to have it up in about a week. (Maybe sooner.)

But, all in all ... I'm happy with them and that's another two hanks out of the stash.

I finished a pair of socks over the holiday weekend while camping on the north fork of the Coeur d'Alene River in north Idaho. I actually finished them while sitting IN the river because it was so hot. I had to cool off! I bought the yarn in August of last year.

June socks at last

OK, I will grant you that these socks do not look like much. They are a simple toe-up inspired by Knitty's "Chevrolace" in Knitpicks' Essential. Simple as they were, they still warranted a couple of trips to the frog pond, a testament to my knitterly limitations. But, my dears, these socks have been around the world. They were knitted on two continents and in four countries (US, China, Korea, Japan), in airplanes, hotel rooms, buses, and all sorts of unexpected places. Some stitches were even knitted over the North Pole--does that count as a third continent from the air? So I'm thinking of naming them "Simply Special," in memory of the trip of a lifetime. What do you think?

Simply Cables in June

Well, I can hardly believe it, but I am ahead of schedule for a change. We shall see whether Blogger is more cooperative today. The pattern is called Simply Cables, by Anni Design from Sockamania. The cables were tough going at first, but by the time I started the second sock, I felt much more competent with them. I love the classic elegance of this design and will definitely be doing it again. The socks were knit with Scheepjes Invicta Extra on size 0 circulars. I used a 5" bamboo double pointed needle to work the cables. The yarn really is not as vibrant an orange as the photo would suggest; it is more of a pumpkin color. Anyhow, thanks to Anni for such a lovely design. See you next month!

Plain Old Socks for June

For just plain old stockinette socks, these sure did take me awhile to finish. They were supposed to be my MAY socks!

Now, I admit there were two weeks when I was sick and didn't pick up the needles much, but the socks contributed to the issue too. I had the hardest time getting the gusset on sock #2 to look nice.

But, now they are done and waiting for cooler weather (uh, maybe in December?????) to come along so they can be on the feet.

Hi folks!
I have started my next sock project. I dug in the stash and found a skein of Opal Petticoat. I've had this one for a couple years. Time for it to be socks.

I'm doing a simple sock pattern. Something 'brainless' so I can work on it without thinking. I've settled on a 4 by 2 garter rib. I took this with me for WWKIP day yesterday. I've got more done than this on it, but this is where I was when I took the photo. I love how it's working up.

Purple Baby Socks

Made from some leftovers in my stash.

Pattern: Better-Than-Booties Baby Socks by Ann Budd.

Yarn: Fingering weight sock yarn from Wild Meadows Yarns

Needles: Size 2 Addi Turbo circulars.

Comments and Changes: They came out a little larger than expected, but that’s cos I used size 2 needles rather than size 0. The method for the short rowed heel is very interesting. I like how it turns out.

I did some changes to the pattern. First of all, I put cables over the whole instep, rather than just two on the sides. Second, I didn’t like the way the pattern does the toes, so I just did a regular traditional sock toe.

Didn't manage to finish my Pom Pom socks in May due to an operation on my arm two weeks ago for carpal tunnel / cubital tunnel. See my bandaged arm here!
Unfortunately I won't be able to knit for a few weeks yet. What's more, they're going to operate on my right arm soon too, so more time out of knitting action. Sob!
I do hope to catch up on my knitting once I can though.
In the meantime I'll be browsing books and patterns and looking at all your great FO's!

Three more pairs of baby socks for May. The new ones are #1 and #3 in the top row and either #1 or #2 in the second row. In my haste to get them mailed, I forgot to take a separate photo of the new pairs. Again, these are from remnants from making my own socks. I would never have guessed I could get so many little pairs out of left overs, 17 pairs altogether so far, and I STILL have yarn left over! - Knitted two at a time cuff down. Separated after the heel turn & reunited after the gusset decreases.

Where Did April Go?

It looks as thought I skipped the entire month of April, not to mention most of May. There has been some knitting going on. I finished the Nutkin sock using Cherry Tree Hill in a beautiful autumnal colorway.
In addition to Nutkin, I've been beavering away on the Tulip Socks, a KnitPicks pattern using Palette.
But wait, there's more. I also have Forget Me Not on the needles using Panda Cotton in the Blueberry and Grape colorway. I hope to add an additioanl may post chronicling at least one finish.

Done, and not a moment too soon. For some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to buy sock yarn with a hint of glitter in it. These have a thread of metallic running through them, giving the glitter effect. They have been in the stash for some time now.

April Embossed Leaves

These are my late April socks from stash. They were begun on holiday and then abandoned in favour of other projects and the spring garden - tsk!

Embossed Leaves by Mona Schmidt from "Favorite Socks", these are knitted using Cherry Tree Hill superwash merino which came to me "ready-wound" in a swap package, so I had no idea how it would knit up.

The stitch pattern is drowned by the spiralling stripes of purple / sapphire and turquoise / green, but my daughter chose the match and she likes them, so that's what matters - a satisfied customer!

Moving on to May socks now - thinking of trying toe-ups for the first time - gulp!

Hello, fellow sock knitters!

The rainy weather helped this pair get finished much faster than I had anticipated. "Mama Bear" they are, tabi, toe-up on #1 bamboo DPN, 100% cotton. They are great for rainy, coldish spring days when one has to wear flip-flops to keep faith in the season, but one cannot stand to have cold toes. Please don't ask why one would have felt compelled to knit a reinforced heel on such socks...

Now, on to my UFOs, I promise. There are no more excuses...

These should have been April socks. Let's just say ... I had some issues. But, now they are done and I'm very happy with them.

This is the closest I've EVER gotten to matching striping all the way through. Considering I broke my yarn with a hammer --- don't ask! ...that I drew my yarn for May and gauged it yesterday, before the month officially started. It is 100% cotton "Stork" from Dalegarn in Norway. I actually think I got it from one of the two amazing yarn stores in Saratoga Springs, NY. There is no color name, just a number: 30.

So I started a toe-up tabi. The pattern will be borrowed from my Mama's trusted stitch book.

I used an easy pattern on these, and I managed to match up the stripes pretty well. They will be a late birthday gift to my sister-in-law. That is, if they don't turn into baby booties when I wash them. They are 100% cotton. I will try to wash with care.

Here is my April pair. The yarn is Opal factory sample color, shade 2061. I ordered it from Marianne's Opalwolle last summer. It's the only place where I've seen Opal sample lines. I like the color combination.

I have another stash pair on the needles, but I'm not sure if I'm going to make it in April. For May I'm planning to use some stash merino. Although I like knitting solids and using lovely patterns, I always fall back to simple stockinette stitch and let the yarn do the work. I can knit those socks while I watch tv, read e-books or when my toddlers decide at 3.30 AM that it's morning and they don't want to sleep any longer.

I had planned on finishing a totally different pair of socks this month--specifically Pomatomus socks in a variegated purple. However, they're not going very well. So I set them aside for a bit and dug out an old skein of Opal, and made these this week. I am especially proud of how perfectly matched they are.

It's sure fun to look at other people's great projects. As March ended, I reluctantly frogged my springy cotton yellow/purple/pink too-huge socks. Boohoo . . . but my April socks in Austermann Step with Aloe Vera have cheered me up. Very soft yarn. Here's the first one. Today I was talking too much at knitting group, so I need to redo a few rows. However, the second sock is moving along well. Maybe I'll get back to the March socks one of these days.

April Footlets

I used a lone skein of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Crazy Stripes for my April socks. One skein was not enough for an average pair of socks but I had to do something with this fun yarn. I chose the Padded Footlets pattern by Mary Snyder from the Favorite Socks book by Interweave. I "unpadded" them and love the result. I love how the striping came out with the pattern and they are super comfortable due to the ribbing on the sides of the instep. The sock has nice details and the instep pattern is echoed on the heel. I cannot wait to wear them! I even had yarn left over.

April's Broken Cables

As fate would have it, I drew another ball of Austerman's Step for April, the same as in February. The result is inspired by the Broken Cables pattern from Knitting Daily. My own take is: tabi, toe up, and a simple M1BO4 top edge. I used #0-2 Susan Bates metal DPNs. I love these socks! They are soft and warm... they make the prospect of winter's return in a few months a little less depressing.

April Socks - Nutkin

Finished my Nutkins last night and kitchenered the toe this morning. This was my first time using KPPPM and I liked the colors and the feel of the yarn so there should be some add'l purchases in the future. I did experience biasing the same as alot of other people but this didn't bother me enough to mirror the pattern. Some did mirror the pattern but experienced a downfall of stretch.
Although this is my fourth pair of completed socks (including a baby pair of Nutkin) for the month of April, this is the pair that counts for the Sock KAL for Apri l.

Hey All!

I actually finished these in one evening in early March (you can see why!), but my camera kept giving me the cold shoulder. They are very simple bed socks, named "Bonbon" because they feel so sweet on my feet at night. Specs: 1 ball of Berroco cotton, #4 bamboo DPN, toe up with Knitty's magic caston, pattern made up as I went along.

Now, I am at work on the second member of my April pair.

Then it took me a few more days or so to actually post! I love these socks so far. The colors are so bright and cheery, and the pattern is so pretty! This is the last month of school before summer break. Probably won't get much knitting done. But I'll try to get one pair done by the end of the month. In the summer, I hope to continue to knit more!

April Socks

These were supposed to be my March socks, but got pushed into April by mistake after mistake after mistake. Sometimes, I think I am just sock-impaired.

However, they are now done! (And not a moment too soon!) I was really beginning to HATE this sock.

Pattern: Waffle Rib

Yarn: Austermann Step in Colorway 126

Needles: Crystal Palace Size 2 on 56 stitches

Modifications: None on purpose, several by mistake. For the life of me I can't figure out WHY if you start at the same spot in the repeat, you do the same number of stitches and the same number of rows that the striping is markedly different on sock 1 and sock 2.

I have been lurking in the background for a while now, so thought it about time I blogged on my sock progress...

This little beauty above is rolling thunder, sock 2 is on the needles.

The sock below is called bigfoot1, this was knit for hubby.

Finally hot off the needles is Bigfoot 2, again made for hubby.

So thats sock progress so far, now planing another pair of socks from stash, they will go into Christmas gift box!!!

The First Leaves of Spring

I finished my March socks a little late, April 6 to be exact, but they are finished and I've dug into the stash and cast on for April's pair.

These socks were finished just as the sun has started to shine and the weather become a bit Spring-like here in the 'burgh. These are the Embossed Leaves Socks by Mona Schmidt from Interweave Knits Winter 2005 and Favorite Socks. The project details can be found on my blog.

I am now attempting to knit my first pair of toe-up socks. I used Judy's Magic Cast On and am following Wendy's Generic Toe-Up Sock Pattern to knit these. The yarn is Vancalcar Acres Flock Sock in the Something for Gryffindor colorway that I purchased from Woolgirl.com around the time when the new Harry Potter movie and book came out.

Early April Socks

I know that the goal of this group is to "stash-Bust" and get rid of some of that yarn that's been hanging around forever. But I could not resist this yarn that I have purchased within the last few months. These were a joy to knit. ShiBui Sock yarn in "Stone" and "Sand". Pattern is HERE

I started my April sock on March 30th, which I know was a bit of a cheat, but really who is going to punish me? The knitting nazis might get me!! Anyway, I started knitting the first sock on size one needles. I don't know what made me think that I would get gauge with needles that small. I am a loose knitter but I don't care how loose I knit, I got the first repeat done and tried them on.. good to go :) and then.. I got five repeats done and I was ready to start the heel. I tried them on again, just because the progress is so fun to see on an actual foot...Yea so I pretty much wanted to rip my hair out but ended up having to frog everything but the ribbing. I decided on going to my trusty size 2 harmonys and was able to fly thru 4 repeats and now I have an entire sock done. I may have set a world record, or not.... I did this entire sock in four days including the almost losing my hair frogging incident.

Been quiet....

Its been very quiet around here though I am working on socks again. After having to make the last pair in such a rush, I lost interest in knitting for a bit. Then I had an accident ~ my dog bite me and my hand had to heal before I could knit again.

I've cast on for 2 pr of socks though I frogged one of them today then reached into stash to begin a new pair ~ they are for my ds. I went back to the original yarn he'd asked for. So I'm knitting one pair from stash and another pr for a friend who requested a pr of Not Pedestrians for her new clear sneakers.
